Ghost Hunt Animation

This is just some of the basic things you need to know before you go hunting for ghosts. There are several good books that have a more in-depth look at ghost hunting, most of which can be found at larger book stores

"While yet a boy I sought for ghosts, and sped
Through many a listening chamber, cave and ruin
And starlight wood, with fearful steps pursuing
Hopes of high talk with the departed dead."
Percy Bysshe Shelly, 'Hymn to Intellectual Beauty'

Many people are under the impression that "ghost" and "spirit" are the same thing. It is not true. A ghost is only a psychic recording, a spirit is the actual soul of an individual who has remained in the material world after the body has died.

A poltergeist, German for "noisy ghost," is different from ghosts and spirits in a few ways. One is that the activity is usually around a person instead of an area. This person is refered to as the "epicenter."

Most poltergeist activity is in the form of knocking and rappings. These sounds can come from just about any hard surface, walls , beds, floors, or tables are common.

The movment of objects is another common form of poltergeist activity. When the haunting begins, objects are "misplaced" and found in places where they normally wouldn't be. i.e. keys or eyeglasses have been found in a freezer or above a cabinet. If the poltergeist gets stronger so do the movements. Furniture and appliances have been known to move during the haunting. Light bulbs are unscrewed while the lamp is still turned on.

Objects have been "thrown" at people in the area, although this is uncommon.

When looking into a haunting, focus on the family's lifestyle as well as the age of the epicenter. Usually the activity is concentrated around one person rather than an area. This person is known as the epicenter.

This is the manifistation of a person, animal, or object that was commonly linked to the area in life. There are different levels that they can be seen at. Some can be seen whole, like seeing a live person. Most of them are either hazy or blurry, almost as if out of focus. Likely a person seeing an appariton will see a fully formed individual with one or more obvious body parts(legs, head, arms, etc.) missing. The last being in areas of battles or other violence.

It is believed that poltergeists will reveal itself around a person that holds their emotions inside until the epicenter can't hold in anymore. At this time the person subconsciously strikes out to release the presure and a poltergeist can form.
